Resources

These pages are a mixture of our own resources, and those we have found from other people and organisations. Some resources here have been provided by practitioners and parents who have tried and tested them, but you will have to assess for yourself the benefits for your own children and whether it will meet the guidelines you are working with.

Some resources are created by food industries. While they are not allowed to promote intentionally inaccurate information, they will naturally wish to promote their product as the most important part of the diet. However some of the resources they provide are very good when used in context. Wherever I am aware that a resource is industry sponsored I will say so, and you can exercise your common sense in evaluating it.

Children's Food Related Blogs Which Are Worth Your Time

There are obviously millions of blogs out there, some of them more pointless than others, but a lot of cool people are promoting children's food through entertaining and informative blogs. These are my favourites.

What's Cooking With Kids Blog
This started life as a normal blog, and has recently been incorporated in with the writer's main business site. Michelle Stern is a mom and veggie gardener and tries very hard through her blog to help other parents to cook and eat fun family meals with their children. The blog is a good mixture of practical ideas and recipes, campaigning information and examples of other parents cooking with their children. Always brief, intelligent and never preachy. Well worth a regular look.

Little Green Fingers
Little Green Fingers is a charming and informative gardening blog. Dawn Isaac was a garden designer before having children and now combines the two to bring you gardening ideas which she has tried (successfully and unsuccessfully!) with her own children. There are some really lovely ideas, lots of inspiration and a good dash of humour. Always a welcome read.

Gardening With Children
This blog is set up by the team who run the www.gardeningwithchildren.co.uk site and has more frequently updated ideas and resources. There is a nice mixture of items suitable for a home environment or a school/nursery space, and in between the gardening advice there are quite a few delicious seasonal recipes to eat your goodies. A lot of the recipes are more for an adult cook (or older child), not so many little kids jobs, but some good ideas on making use of the fruits of the children's gardening labour.
