Resources

These pages are a mixture of our own resources, and those we have found from other people and organisations. Some resources here have been provided by practitioners and parents who have tried and tested them, but you will have to assess for yourself the benefits for your own children and whether it will meet the guidelines you are working with.

Some resources are created by food industries. While they are not allowed to promote intentionally inaccurate information, they will naturally wish to promote their product as the most important part of the diet. However some of the resources they provide are very good when used in context. Wherever I am aware that a resource is industry sponsored I will say so, and you can exercise your common sense in evaluating it.

Making Pitta And Hummous

01/05/2009 20:29:00

This activity was sent in by Safe And Sound Daycare , a childminding practice in Brighton and Hove
What did you do and how did you do it?
Pitta bread and Hummus – went to the supermarket to purchase the ingredients.  We weighed out the pitta bread ingredients and placed them in the bread machine.  While the dough was being made, we placed all the hummus ingredients in the food processor and whizzed it to a smooth puree.  When the dough was ready, each child was given a piece of dough to roll out,  this was then grilled.  We all sat down and ate the freshly cooked pitta together with the hummus for lunch.

What equipment, money, knowledge or experience did you need?
Scales, bread machine, food processor and general kitchen items.  Very cheap to make.
