Kids will love this fun craft which we found on the Busy Bee Kids Crafts website. Apart from a small amount of scissorwork, kids can do most of it by themselves.

This activity can also easily be customised for the kids to put their own spin on it, by using the same ideas to make different animals. You can also use wrapping paper or felt tips instead of paint for a quicker and less messy alternative.

Celery Stalk Rose Prints

Celery Stalk Rose Prints This is a lovely idea I saw on Maureen Cracknell's Homemade site. It's a cute thing to do next time you have a recipe which needs a whole head of celery in one go and therefore you cut off the stump rather than peeling individual stalks, or you can do the same with a head of crunchy lettuce. So next time you have one of those recipes, get your paints out and let your kids make some pretty art or some greetings cards. The original is h...

Salt Dough Christmas Decorations NOT FOR EATING! If you want to make salt dough decorations with your children, so they can paint them and put them on the tree, here is a good basic recipe from Kirstie Allsop's Christmas show. Here's a nice idea - why not make a small batch every year with your children and write the year or their initials and age on the back each year? That way they can see how their skills developed as they grew, it's a little potted history of their ...

Make Your Own Chef's Hat If your kids would love to dress up as a chef when cooking in your kitchen but you don't want to fork out a tenner on a fabric hat from a dress up shop which will fit them for five minutes, you could try this craft paper version which we found on Spoonful. Using a piece of card, some tissue and a paperclip or two, this is a fairly straightforward activity and you can make it exactly the right size. This would also be really helpful if you are ha...

Cereal Bracelet Craft

Cereal Bracelet Craft This is a great activity for kids to do on rainy days, using basic materials and providing a healthy snack at the end! We found it on the No Time For Flash Cards website and we think it is a lovely idea to make a cereal bracelet which is a healthy alternative to the classic 'candy bracelet'. You can also use wool or string instead of pipe cleaners, as long as whatever you choose is clean so that kids can eat the cereal off it. By sorting the cereal into colour...
