Why Kids Should Cook Posters

We love these six posters from
KidsCookMonday, they would be perfect for a school hall or classroom, or the area where parents collect their children at a pre-school.

The pictures and messages all explain the importance of cooking both at school and at home, and how it is not only beneficial for a healthy diet but it also a good way to get the family together and as a tool to help children's overall educational performance.

If you have parents who don't really understand how learning to cook fits into their child's education and wellbeing, or if you feel you have to defend your decisions to spend time cooking with kids as a legitimate part of their education, these posters may just be the gentle nudge you need to get those messages across.

You can download the posters here. If using the posters leads to parents asking about Monday being family night, point them towards the Kids Cook Monday site which is full of great ideas.

Celery Stalk Rose Prints This is a lovely idea I saw on Maureen Cracknell's Homemade site. It's a cute thing to do next time you have a recipe which needs a whole head of celery in one go and therefore you cut off the stump rather than peeling individual stalks, or you can do the same with a head of crunchy lettuce. So next time you have one of those recipes, get your paints out and let your kids make some pretty art or some greetings cards. The original is h...

Easter Bunny Breakfast with Scrambled Egg and Bacon Loving this creative Easter breakfast. I know it's fab to get up and do the Easter egg hunt, but you need to get some 'proper food' into kids before they really pile in to the pile of chocolate. This is a great breakfast idea which will fill them up and make them smile and enable you to get them to postpone the chocolate carnage for a little longer. The recipe was created by Carrie over at worthpinning.com and was inspired by some ...

Easter Chick Boiled Eggs

Easter Chick Boiled Eggs This is a lovely idea originally from the Manga Cookbook, but we saw in on JustJENN's recipe site, where she tried it out with her own children. It's a lovely way to present a boiled egg as an Easter treat. Kids eat so much sweet food over Easter, you need to make sure they are getting a little protein in to stop their blood sugar constantly rocketing up and down. So if you're having an Easter themed meal, you could put some of these in the mix. If you'...

Kale Crisps We found these step by step instructions on how to make kale crisps on Eats Amazing. This is an interesting and tasty snack made from green kale leaves. If you haven't eaten kale chips don't be put off by what sounds like a weird snack, it really is a revelation. Quick and simple, this version has a step by step guide with added pictures at each stage to help you through the process. This is particularly good as a way of using small amounts of kale which are not en...
