The World Came To My Place Today
by Jo Readman and Ley Honor Roberts

This book is part of a series by The Eden Project and it is utterly charming. In it George and Flora are visiting their Grandpa when Flora gets chickenpox. To allay George's boredom at having to stay in, Grandpa brings the world to George by explaining where all the foods in his normal day come from.

This is a great way to introduce children to the idea that food has to come from somewhere and that lots of the foods they eat all the time have travelled halfway across the world and would have been very exotic to people long ago.

The tone of these books are lovely and they are beautifully illustrated as well as educational.

This is part of a series of George and Flora books about food and sustainability, you'll find more in the gardening section.
